OAFTO

Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers

THE ASSOCIATION

Fire Departments across the province of Ontario recognized over 50 years ago that a standard method and scope of firefighter training was required. This led to the creation of the Municipal Fire Departments Instructors Association which began on December 4th, 1961.

Since its inception, members of the association have played a vital role
in the development and delivery of training programs used by fire departments today within the province of Ontario. They have contributed countless hours to committees and boards, and have assisted in financing the development of the Training Officers' curriculum. The commitment within the existing membership
of the current renamed Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers continues,
and it is this dedication to fire service training that will ensure
the organizations future success.

OUR VISION AT OAFTO

To improve safety, skills, knowledge and communications in the Fire Service by taking a leadership role in education, development and partnerships.
